You need to target spinal column, ligaments, and tendons for strengthening. The recommended exercise is back and abdominal exercise. You need to target tight and inflexible muscle that causes the pain. The recommended option is hamstring stretching exercise. The last for cardiovascular or aerobic is a low impact activity like walking or swimming.
The doctor will recommend physician to treat the Sciatica leg pain. You may get passive and active treatments. The passive treatments can be deep tissue massage, alternate between hot and cold therapy, transcutaneous electrical nerve stimulation (TENS), and ultrasound. Deep tissue massage targets muscle tension that may press the sciatic nerve using direct pressure. TENS use a machine to stimulate the muscle. Ultrasound will send sound waves to the muscle tissue, heat it, and increase the circulations.
